What is Bridge to a Revolution?

One of the things that has inspired me most over the last 14 years of my Passion Catalyst work helping people feel energized and alive has been being a “change catalyst catalyst” – being a catalyst for people who feel called to change the world.

That idea is at the heart of my Ripple Revolution vision. The Ripple Revolution is a movement to rethink how we think about making a difference. It’s about loving your life, and changing your world, one choice and one action at a time.

Paradoxically, at the same time as the pieces have been falling into place on how that vision can come together in the real world, I am struggling mightily with my business. It has proved impossible to plot a Revolution when my focus has been so consumed by trying to keep the lights on.

The Bridge to a Revolution is about my efforts to build a bridge from where I am now to where I want to be (much of which involves the question, “How do I get more money in the door?”). It’s an authentic look at the reality of pursuing a dream in the face of all the obstacles that come up.

The idea of sharing my journey without the veneer of “I have to look good” inspires me. I love the idea of giving a more realistic picture of what it takes to breathe life into a vision.

One of my big pet peeves of the personal development world is how little the super-successful experts show their vulnerable underbelly. There is a tendency not to talk much about how they struggle (unless it is a story about a struggle they overcame in the distance past). And yet, that struggle is simply a part of the human experience that we all share in one way or another.

It creates an empty space that is all too easy for the us self-help consumers to fill with a story about how they are somehow different than we are. There’s a temptation to see our own struggles as proof that we don’t have what it takes, rather than just a sign that we are in motion toward something great.

The idea of modeling that real-world vulnerability and an openness and receptivity to whatever support the universe has to offer (rather than gritting my teeth and trying to control things every step of the way) is inspiring because there is the potential that seeing it will give others permission to be that in their own journey.

The idea of sharing an authentic look at my journey also terrifies me. There’s a voice in my head that says, “That’s professional suicide, dude! Don’t even go there!”

For better or worse, with great delight and great trepidation, heeeere weeee goooooo…

Thank you for joining me as I build my Bridge to a Revolution.
